From 2014 – 2018, through funding provided by CDC and HHS’ Office of Population Affairs, ASTHO led the Increasing Access to Contraception Learning Community to improve access to all methods of contraception so individuals can achieve their desired number and spacing of children.
The learning community began with six states focused on improving access to long-acting reversible contraception in the immediate postpartum period. Over time, the learning community expanded to 27 states and territories and to the full range of contraceptive methods. The project sought to identify, document, and address technical assistance needs of public health and Medicaid programs and promote evidence-based guidance.
As part of the learning community, ASTHO connected state partners in similar roles through a series of peer group calls. The calls featured presentations from a variety of states and national experts. The presentation slides and recordings are available on this page.
