ASTHO supports public health agencies in incorporating assessments as a core component of their practice. As part of this work, ASTHO provides resources and tools for agencies to utilize as they assess their functioning capability and their ability to assess and monitor population health status, factors that influence health, and community needs and assets. ASTHO supports state and territorial health agencies who seek voluntary national accreditation from the Public Health Accreditation Board. ASTHO is committed to ensuring that its members have the technical support needed to become accredited and continuously improve the performance of their health agencies.
