A Multi-Pronged Approach to Addressing Syphilis

Syphilis is on the rise across the United States, and states are working to reverse the trend. Colorado’s Department of Public Health and Environment has pursued policy measures—including a public health order, legislation, and rulemaking—to increase syphilis testing with the hope of addressing this growing concern, with a special focus on screening pregnant people to mitigate growing cases of congenital syphilis.
