Making the Connection Between Health in All Policies and State Health Improvement Plans

Integrating Health in All Policies (HiAP) more seamlessly into state health improvement plans (SHIP) can create a synergy that states and territories can capitalize on to advance cross-sector work. The connection works well since HiAP and SHIP planning are collaborative by nature and seek to improve health and equity. This report highlights seven HiAP strategies that directly relate to the actions involved in state health improvement planning. The report also describes how Wisconsin and Tennessee connected HiAP and SHIPs to improve health and racial equity, synchronize communication, and incorporate health data into their decision-making processes.
