ASTHO supports health agencies in addressing the multiple forms of firearm violence and implementing evidence-based public health approaches that can prevent firearm violence in the future. ASTHO established the Catalyst Center for Firearm Injury Prevention to equip public health leadership with the tools to prevent firearm injuries and death through peer-to-peer learning and relevant resources. As part of the Catalyst Center, ASTHO developed the Roadmap to Prevent Firearm Injury and Violence and the related toolkit to guide strengthening health agency infrastructure for firearm injury and death prevention work.
