How To Download a Web Page for Offline Use
Download a web page for offline use later, if/when needed (i.e., you have limited internet access). This will allow you to view the ASTHO resource on demand without internet. Please refer to the directions for your device and browser of choice.
Desktop Browsers
Google Chrome
- Navigate to the webpage you want to download.
- Click on the three-dot menu in the upper right corner.
- Select Cast, save and share > Save page as... or use the shortcut Ctrl + S (Windows) or Command + S (Mac).
- Choose a file type and location:
- In the dialog box, select Webpage, Complete to save all content (images, text).
- Choose a destination on your computer and click Save.
- To view the saved page, navigate to the saved location and double-click the HTML file.
Microsoft Edge
- Navigate to the webpage you want to download.
- Click on the three-dot menu in the upper right corner.
- Select More Tools > Save page as... or use the shortcut Ctrl + S (Windows) or Command + S (Mac).
- Choose a file type and location:
- In the dialog box, select Webpage, Complete to save all content (images, text).
- Choose a destination on your computer and click Save.
- To view the saved page, navigate to the saved location and double-click the HTML file.
Mozilla Firefox
- Navigate to the webpage you want to download.
- Click on the hamburger menu (three horizontal lines) in the upper right corner.
- Select Save Page As... from the dropdown menu or use the shortcut Ctrl + S (Windows) or Command + S (Mac).
- Choose a file type and location:
- Select Web Page, complete:
- Choose a location, then click Save.
- To view the saved page, navigate to the saved location and double-click the HTML file.
Safari (Mac)
- Navigate to the webpage you want to download.
- Select File > Save As... or use the shortcut Command + S.
- Choose a format and location:
- Select Web Archive for the format
- Choose a location, then click Save.
- To view the saved page, navigate to the saved location and double-click the HTML file.
Mobile Browsers
Chrome (Android)
- Open the webpage.
- Tap on the three-dot menu.
- Tap on the download icon.
- A banner will confirm that it's available offline.
- Access downloaded pages through the Downloads section in the menu.
Chrome (iOS)
- Open the webpage.
- Tap on the three-dot menu.
- Select Bookmarks and lists and then Reading list.
- Select Add tab to reading list.
- Access saved pages through your Reading List.
Firefox (Android)
- Open the webpage.
- Tap on the three-dot menu.
- Tap on the share icon.
- Select Save as PDF.
- Access saved pages through your Downloads later.
Firefox (iOS)
- Open the webpage.
- At the bottom of the screen, tap the hamburger menu (three horizontal lines) button (the menu will be at the top right if you're using an iPad).
- Tap Add next to Reading list.
- Access saved pages through your Reading List.
Safari (iOS)
- Open the webpage.
- Tap on the share icon.
- Select Add to Reading List.
- Access saved pages through your Reading List.
