Standards & Interoperability

ASTHO is a member of several health IT Standards Development Organizations (SDO) and works collaboratively on the Standards & Interoperability (S&I) Framework’s Public Health Tiger Team. ASTHO is committed to increasing the perspective and needs of state public health in standards development.

Standards Development Organizations
ASTHO works with some of the leading health IT related Standards Development Organizations (SDO) such as Health Level 7 (HL7), Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE), and others to ensure that state public health needs are represented. HIT standards allow for data to be extracted, transported, and integrated into systems increasing the potential for interoperable systems.
