ASTHO Announces 2016-2017 Territorial Accreditation Support Initiative Awardees

ASTHO, with funding and support from Center for Disease Control and Prevention’s Office of State, Tribal, Local, and Territorial Support, is pleased to announce the selection of three territorial and freely associated state health agencies for the 2016-2017 Accreditation Support Initiative (ASI):

  • Commonwealth Health Corporation, Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands
  • Guam Department of Public Health Services and Social Services, Guam
  • Ministry of Health, Republic of the Marshall Islands

The ASI will support the selected health agencies to advance their readiness to apply for accreditation through the Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB). From December 2016 through June 2017, the selected sites will use ASI awards to design and implement a project in a self-identified area of need. Two ASI sites will lead activities leading to the development of an agency workforce development plan, and the third ASI site will lead activities to enhance their performance management system and implement quality improvement.

During the ASI, ASTHO will assist each ASI site in various ways, including: provision of direct one-on-one technical assistance, dissemination and implementation of various accreditation readiness resources and tools, leading webinars and conference calls with the ASTHO Territorial Performance Improvement Learning Community, and facilitation of peer-to-peer networking and mentoring. At the completion of the ASI, ASTHO will share project deliverables developed by ASI sites on its website. Questions about this opportunity can be directed to Joya Coffman, director of performance improvement at ASTHO.
