ASTHO and CDC are collaborating through a cooperative agreement to steward the development of a preparedness measurement instrument referred to as the National Health Security Preparedness Index (NHSPI). The goal of the project is to create a set of objective, national indicators that can be universally applied to facilitate the high-level assessment of progress in achieving health preparedness capabilities while driving continuous quality improvement. It is also intended to increase awareness among public health leaders and policymakers of trends that may represent emerging threats to the preparedness, stability, or solvency of the public health system.
