This week, ASTHO joins the American Public Health Association in celebrating National Public Health Week and in recognizing the great work happening across the nation to promote the public’s health and well-being. ASTHO supports, equips, and advocates for state and territorial health officials in their work to create the conditions for optimal health and protect America’s health security.

Every year, ASTHO develops resources to strengthen state and territorial public health leadership across a range of key issues, from public health preparedness, chronic disease prevention, and substance misuse and addiction, to population health strategies, informatics, and health equity.   • Information to Action: The Workforce Data of Public Health WINS
    The Public Health Workforce Interests and Needs Survey (PH WINS) is a survey of state public health agency workers, as well as local health department workers in select states. ASTHO and the de Beaumont Foundation surveyed public health workers about workforce development priorities, the workplace environment, and key national initiative. 2017 data will be published soon.
  • ASTHO Leadership Institute
    The ASTHO Leadership Institute is a yearlong, cohort-based leadership program designed to enhance the success of new state and territorial health officials. The program offers opportunities for self-assessment, development of knowledge and skills through intensive retreats, executive coaching, and more.
