ASTHO Urges Senators Not to Repeal the Prevention Fund

Dec. 2, 2015

ASTHO wrote to Senate leadership in opposition to H.R. 3762, reconciliation legislation that would repeal the Prevention and Public Health Fund (Prevention Fund). The Fund provides partial or total funding for such critical public health programs as the Preventive Health and Health Services Block Grant, the Section 317 Immunization Program, and the CDC’s Epidemiology and Laboratory Capacity grant program.

H.R. 3762, as amended by the Senate, passed by a vote of 52-47 on Dec. 3. It now awaits further consideration in the House of Representatives before it can be sent to the President. The President has announced he plans to veto the legislation.
