ASTHO Leads Letter on TSCA Reform

On Feb. 12, ASTHO, along with 13 organizations dedicated to ensuring the health and safety of the public, sent a letter to Congress to urge the prioritization of public health during its consideration of legislation to update the 1976 Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA).

The letter’s recommendations focus on the following priories:

  • A safety standard that protects public health
  • Preemption provisions that ensure protections from unsafe chemicals
  • Protections for vulnerable populations against harmful exposures
  • Access to confidential business information by public health and other professionals
