Feedback Requested on HIT Policy Committee Recommendations for Meaningful Use Stage 3

The HHS Health Information Technology Policy Committee is requesting comments and feedback from public health agencies and stakeholders on Stage 3 Meaningful Use recommendations.

Stage 3 will build upon previous Meaningful Use public health objectives, specifically on electronic laboratory reporting, immunization information systems, syndromic surveillance, and cancer registries. Additionally, providers and hospitals must report clinical quality measures to CMS or state Medicaid agencies, and the collection of patient demographic information has been expanded.

ASTHO will be submitting a comment letter to HHS. To submit comments for inclusion in the ASTHO letter, please contact Rebecca Brady by close-of-business, Monday, January 7, 2013.
