The ASTHO SNS advisory workgroup consists of 20 SNS coordinators from project areas around the country. Meeting by conference call on a monthly basis, the workgroup plays an important role in raising awareness of policy and operational challenges related to SNS planning and countermeasure distribution and provide feedback on key policy issues to federal partners. Over the last project year, among other activities, the workgroup provided ASTHO with suggestions for revising DSNS’s Receiving, Distributing, and Dispensing Strategic National Stockpile Assets and collected examples of state health agency risk communication templates related to countermeasures at the request of the Institute of Medicine. The workgroup also provided feedback to ASTHO about ongoing activities and how ASTHO can improve its services. The calls also served as a forum for workgroup members to exchange information and share suggested solutions for challenges experienced in their jurisdictions.
