May 25-26 ASTHO 2010 State Public Health Workforce Summit
The meeting, geared toward health agency human resource directors, was held jointly with primary care office directors and senior health department staff to facilitate networking and information-sharing. Representatives from 21 states attended the meeting. Speakers from state health agencies and external organizations like the Partnership for Public Service, Pew Center on the States, and the Center for State and Local Government Excellence discussed the multiple challenges impacting the governmental workforce. Participants learned about strategies for recruiting and maintaining a quality public health workforce and emerging issues affecting the state public health workforce.
