ASTHO/CIDRAP Public Health Practices Website Launch
ASTHO, in partnership with the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy (CIDRAP) at the University of Minnesota, launched the all new Public Health Practices website (www.publichealthpractices.org) on June 1, 2011. CIDRAP originally developed Public Health Practices to share useful practices related to pandemic influenza preparedness. In 2011, ASTHO and CIDRAP partnered to expand the site to include additional topics in emergency response. Some highlights to the site now include:
- Nine emergency preparedness topic areas including: At-Risk Populations, Behavioral Health, Bioterrorism, Chemical Emergencies, Healthcare System Preparedness, Natural Disasters, Outbreaks and Emerging Issues, Pandemic Influenza, and Radiation Emergencies.
- The ability to submit your agency's work directly on the website.
- An easy-to-use search engine that allows you to quickly find what you need.
- The chance to comment on practices and share them via social media.
Public Health Practices is a joint project of the University of Minnesota Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy (CIDRAP), in partnership with the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials (ASTHO). Public Health Practices integrates ASTHO's Useful Practices with CIDRAP's Promising Practices. Its mission is to serve as a one-stop shop for tools and strategies to respond to the health consequences of disasters and emergencies.
Please feel free to submit a practice or offer feedback on the site!
