Evidence-Based Public Health

Evidence-Based Public Health

ASTHO seeks to integrate evidence-based public health practices in all its work. Evidence-based interventions lead to more successful programs and policies, greater workforce productivity and better use of resources.

About ASTHO's Work in Evidence-Based Public Health

For over ten years, ASTHO has collaborated with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to promote evidence-based public health, particularly through adoption of the Task Force recommendations in The Guide to Community Preventive Services (The Community Guide) to form state health policy. The Community Guide offers recommendations for public health interventions based on the strength of evidence as determined by the scientific systematic review process of an expert Task Force.
