On Jan. 24, the Senate Finance Committee held a second confirmation hearing for Rep. Tom Price, President Trump’s nominee to lead the Department of Health and Human Services. During the hearing, the committee raised several ethical questions about Price’s tax returns and financial disclosure statements. Although both the Senate health and finance committees hold hearings with Price, it is the finance panel that will ultimately vote to advance Price’s nomination to the Senate. In the meantime, following a blistering week of confirmation hearings, Senate Republicans and Democrats are at their respective retreats, discussing strategy and sharing ideas for the 115th Congress. House Republicans are also at their retreat; House Democrats are scheduled to attend theirs next week.
