  • Nearly all US states see hefty drop in teen births

    The nation's record-low teen birth rate stems from robust declines in nearly every state, but most dramatically in several Mountain States and among Hispanics, according to a new government report.

  • Rate of bicycle-related fatalities significantly lower in states with helmet laws

    Existing research shows that bicyclists who wear helmets have an 88 percent lower risk of brain injury, but researchers at Boston Children's Hospital found that simply having bicycle helmet laws in place showed a 20 percent decrease in deaths and injuries for children younger than 16 who were in bicycle-motor vehicle collisions.

  • Second State Senate Votes for GMO Labeling Law

    The Connecticut Senate has voted 35-to-1 in favor of a GMO labeling bill, joining the Vermont House’s 99-to-42 vote on a nearly identical measure earlier this month.
